He started 45 games in a four-year career at Ohio State and earned himself first-team All-America honors and the Jim Thorpe Award as a senior. During his career, he had 11 interceptions and returned two for touchdowns. While he was playing on the special teams, he blocked three punts, two during his senior season.
Before the contract was signed, Jenkins had missed the first 10 days of camp, including the club’s scrimmage on Saturday. But Saints GM Mickey Loomis was confident that with the contract signed, Jenkins would get up to speed soon. At the moment Jenkins is used as a backup, but he will have an opportunity to play in all four exhibition games as he attempts to work his way into the Saints lineup.
