DB Hood got one-year contract from Bears

Being released by the Cleveland Browns the previous day, defensive back Rod Hood soon found his new job in the Chicago Bears, who announced on Tuesday that they have signed Hood to a one-year contract.

Hood started 14 games last season and Super Bowl for the Arizona Cardinals but was cut in April. He found a job in Cleveland in May and was used just for rotation at cornerback. In last Saturday night’s preseason game the Browns playing against the Tennessee Titans, he was beaten on a touchdown pass.

It seemed that he was unnecessary to the Cardinals and the Browns, but the Bears, who have been short-handed in the secondary during the preseason, Hood’s joining will add depth to the dinged-up secondary. With cornerback Charles Tillman recovering from offseason back surgery, and cornerback Zackary Bowman and safety Danieal Manning nursing hamstring injuries, Hood could be valued more than he was in his former teams.
