Burress prepared for prison life by hiring a prison consultant

According to Plaxico Burress’s lawyer Benjamin Brafman, the ex-New York Giants wide receiver already hired a prison consultant to prepare his life behind bars.

Brafman told reporters that Burress would get advice on “how to use his period of confinement as productively as possible” from the consultant. The 32-year-old former Super Bowl star pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon on Thursday for shot himself in the thigh last November; the same year he caught the last-minute touchdown that gave the Giants the 2008 Super Bowl championship.

After being sentenced on Sept. 22, Burress will face two years of imprisonment. His prison consultant will help him with how to arrange life in the prison. I guess what the consultant does will reduce Burress’ loss as much as possible for missing two years of football playing. And that should be why prison consultants have become increasingly popular among celebrities and other high-profile people facing incarceration.

Former Giants star Burress will be arraigned on Aug. 20

Except for the updating of the arraignment date, it seems nothing new in the Plaxico Burress case which started from Nov. 29. But anyway, there are always new details released from the new report of old case.

It was reported that when Burress was at the Latin Quarter nightclub on Nov. 29, an unlicensed gun tucked into his waistband slipped down his leg and fired, shooting him in the right thigh. He was then charged of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

The arraignment was set on Aug. 20. If Burress is convicted of the two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of reckless endangerment, he will have to stay in jail for at least three and a half years.

Justice should be fair to NFL star players

If we think carefully on the Plaxico Burress situation and the Donte’ Stallworth case, we have to admit the justice did not show fairness as it should do. As you know, Stallworth pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter. His negotiated penance is 30 days in jail, two years of house arrest and eight years of probation. Plaxicao would be looking at 3.5 years for shooting himself in the leg, even though in a public place. Whether you agree or disagree, a moral precedence of sorts has been established.

For fairness, I think there is a distinction that needs to be made, especially for the unfortunate loss of life in the Stallworth situation. Stallworth should spend more time in jail and Plax should do more than spending 3.5 years in jail. Even if these would cost them their NFL career, they deserv that. Fairness of justice should not be cost by anything.Write For Pay
