Seahawks signed offer sheet with Chargers RFA QB Whitehurst

According the NFL reports, the San Diego Chargers restricted free agent quarterback Charlie Whitehurst is likely to put on the Seattle Seahawks jersey with a two-year $10 million contract. Per the report, the Chargers may get draft picks, including a 2011 third-round selection through the trade with the Seahawks.


Whitehurst was the target of both the Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals, but the latter agreed to terms with former Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Derek Anderson on Wednesday, thus he signed the offer sheet with the Seahawks on the same day, making the trade near to be finalized.

For some reason, the four-year pro has just appeared in only two NFL regular-season games without throwing any pass. If the trade is going on well as it has been expected, Whitehurst is going to be a backup for Matt Hasselbeck after the Seahawks’ former No. 2 quarterback Seneca Wallace was traded to the Browns last week.

Chargers WR Jackson will face imprisonment and suspension

The San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson entered his plea on Monday, pleading to DUI charge and accepting sentence for four days in jail and five years of probation. He may also receive a one-game suspension from the league because it has been the second time he was convicted of DUI.

The last time he pleaded guilty to a DUI charge was in 2006 and he was still on probation for that charge when he was arrested again in January 2009. Jackson will also be arraigned on March 2 for driving with a suspended license. It was a few hours before the Chargers’ playoff loss to the New York Jets when Jackson was handcuffed briefly and had his car impounded following a traffic stop that was caused by playing loud music.

According to City Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Gina Coburn, Jackson will pay $2,408 of fine and commit 10 days of public work service. Last time he was ordered to give five days of public work service. The jail time can be served as work release and Jackson can report between now and March 23. Hope this time he learns how to drive in a safe way. As a pro star athlete in NFL jersey, he should at least make sure he is not a public threat to others’ life even if he does not take himself as public example of behavior.

Three key offensive starters will miss Chargers Sunday’s game

It is very near that the game between the San Diego Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens will begin. However, three Chargers key offensive starters are expected to miss the game on Sunday.


Running back LaDainian Tomlinson, center Nick Hardwick and right guard Louis Vasquez all missed their second straight practice on Thursday, decreasing the chance they’ll play against the vaunted Ravens defense. All of the three had injuries, with Hardwick and Tomlinson’s ankles sprained and Vasquez’s knee sprained.

According to coach Norv Turner, the players who missed Thursday’s practice would have less chance than other guys to play in Sunday’s game.
